  1. Always nice to see your smiling face, I’ve missed your Wednesday chats. The Good Wife is one show that I eagerly look forward to, the writing is tight and the show always leaves me wanting more.

    1. Lee, we haven’t had cable for a while. It’s crazy how much it costs. Instead, we have Netflix. It’s like ten bucks a month and we still get to watch our favorite TV shows. For people who are addicted to certain shows and have to watch as soon as it’s available, that really won’t work, but we don’t mind waiting until it’s available on Netflix.

  2. I am trying to watch less,… it is fine when it is good but wastes so much time and energy when it isn’t. Having said that, I am still recovering from the lesbian kiss on Xmas Eve, on Last Tango in Halifax…..

    1. I hear you. I’m pretty picky. If I can’t get into a show by the end of the first episode, I cross it off the list. Unfortunately, or fortunately, there are still a lot of good ones out there :)

  3. WE got rid of our cable over 3 years ago. We just signed up for netflix and roku as an xmas gift to us. I have done a couple of series marathons over the holidays for Orange is the new black, walking dead, and once upon a time. I am now starting to work on warehouse 13. Prior to having netflix I would purchase dvd seasons for Rizzoli & Isles (since that isn’t on netflix I will still get the season 4 dvd’s. We used to be addicted to TV and were paying through the teeth for a package of all the cable channels, which we were barely using. I found I didn’t miss it very much when we got rid of it and started reading more and listening to music more.
Even with having the netflix now, I don’t find myself watching all the time. Once or twice a week I will watch a movie or a couple episodes of something. There are a number of shows I wouldn’t mind seeing just because everyone is talking about them, but some aren’t on netflix and I have been band for buying into any other services at this time, so I can easily make due with what is there now, especially since I haven’t had TV for a couple of years!

    1. We wind up “taping” lots of shows and watching them all at once instead of scattered throughout the week. Definitely helps with time management and staying focused on other projects.

  4. Don’t have cable or anything. I check out DVD seasons from library as they become available.
Enjoy & recommend Good Wife, Justified, Walking Dead, Doctor Who, Haven, Warehouse 13, Fringe, and Game of Thrones.

  5. We dont get Netflix here in Australia but it sounds like something I need. Bother!
We dont get some of the good shows that you get in the USA. For example I am hanging out to see Orange is the New Black but if I want to see it I woud need to pirate it which I am not willing to do. Alas one day I hope we get it on free to air.
I liked you analogy about tv shows and books and getting the viewer/reader back for the next instalment/session.
As always, I enjoyed seeing your smiling face on my computer screen, I had missed it.
I am currently reading your latest and really enjoying it.

    1. Thanks, Devlyn. Glad to hear you’re enjoying Rush.

Do you have any subscription streaming services in Australia? The main ones here seem to be Netlfix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Instant Video.

  6. Thanks, Jove. Someone else recently recommended Netflix. We’re clearly missing some great entertainment! I’ve been waiting my whole life to write full-time and that’s what I’m doing. TV shows are no temptation for me. :- )

  7. I like netflix and hulu. Once I find a series I like, I can watch the current season on hulu. I like crime medical shows with some super natural. Law and Order, SVU, Criminal Minds, CSI, Bones, Medical Examiner. I watch shows while on the treadmill or bike. It’s a good way to pass the time. My wife has gotten me to watch Sons of Anarchy, which she is hooked on.
