Hey, if any of you have a self-published book available, you might want to enter it into the Shelf Unbound Writing Competition for Best Self-Published Book.
The entry fee is $10 per entry. The winner will receive editorial coverage in the December/January 2013 issue of Shelf Unbound magazine and will receive a year’s worth of full-page ads (6 issues; rate card value $1,000 per ad).
Full competition rules are HERE.
But you have to hurry—the deadline is October 1. Sorry for the short notice but I just found out about it today.
If you decide to enter, let us know what your experience was and good luck!
Margaret Brown, publisher at Shelf Unbound, contacted me with the following info on a new lesbian novel program. They’re focusing on the contest right now, but once that’s done, they will be starting this new project, which some of you may be interested in. I’ll keep you posted as I get more info.
Hi, RG — thanks for posting info about our writing competition. I appreciate your help in spreading the word. I also want to let you know that sometime in the next few months Shelf Unbound will be launching a Kickstarter program to raise funds for a writing advance for a writer to write a novel with lesbian main or central characters. Writers will submit proposals to a jury who will choose the winner — the winner will receive all funds and will retain all rights to their novel. They can shop it traditionally or Shelf will publish it as an e-book if they wish. So stay tuned. … — Margaret
