NaNoWriMo Hangover, The Rainbow Awards, and Party at The Virtual Living Room

Good day!

Whew, what a ride the last two weeks have been. Pull up a chair, have some coffee with me, and I’ll tell you all about it. Probably in my true ADD fashion, but hey – you knew that was coming when you clicked on my blog.  🙂

First, I’ll address the huge NaNoWriMo hangover that I’m experiencing. I know it’s late – but I haven’t blogged for two weeks and I need to finish this series. Trust me, it will bother me if I don’t.

If you’d like to catch up on the mania, here are the links to my NaNoWriMo series:
Week One: NaNo Ninja Empath.
Week Two: NaNoWriMo and the ADD Author.
Week Three: NaNoWriMo and the Home Stretch.

Okay, I even amused myself by re-reading them! It happens 🙂

After the home stretch, and my advice on how to reach the finish line, I put my head down and ran with my characters all the way to the finish line. Early. I ended the 2013 NaNo with: 52,746 words.

Yay me! Or should I give the credit all to Macy, my muse? Yes, I should, I still need to keep her happy. I’ve finished the NaNo – but not the book!

That being said, what I have to work with is a hot mess. And I do mean – hot mess. I have more than a score of separate scenes that need to be re-read and put in order. Thank the Goddess, I’ve taken my editor’s, Victoria Oldham, advice and used a a general outline and story board this time! She really, really rocks. And I have to thank her for her unfailing support 🙂

Have I read any of them since I’ve been home from my travels? Nope. Not a one. I’m hoping that when I do I’ll be super-impressed with my insight and emotionally descriptive prose. 🙂

NOW, here’s the important stuff!

The 2013 Rainbow Awards! Hosted by Elisa. Here is a snippet from her page and the link to the entire list of Winners and Runners-up.
“Almost 400 books, more than 150 judges, all over the world, and many, many submissions, from indie publishers, from mainstream publishers and a lot of self-published authors.”

You’re probably asking how the NaNoWriMo and the 2013 Rainbow Awards tie together, right?

I’m very honored to be nominated and chosen as a runner up in the Paranormal Romance Category. Why? Because my book, The Awakening: Book One in the Sisters of Spirits Trilogy was an idea that sprang from The NaNo two years ago! How cool is that?

Here is the original piece of paper that started it! Photo-0133

Elisa Reviews also reviewed The Awakening – and you can find that HERE.

AND Sometime Yesterday, my very first book – placed third last year in the 2012 Rainbow Awards! Also – a NaNo project.

All those agonizing hours over the keyboard, and fussing and fretting over whether people will like my stories or not – are totally worth it. Thank you again, Victoria, and Bold Strokes Books. Because without you (and all the fabulous staff and authors) – I wouldn’t be on this list!

To be included for the second year in a row is amazing! To see my name alongside all these amazing authors, humbles me, truly. Thank you so much for letting play in your reindeer games 🙂 I mean that in the most positive way:)

The Virtual Living Room is having a Rainbow Awards Party at the virtual living room, Dec. 14 and 15, 2013! That’s THIS Weekend.

Hosted by Beni, Devlyn, Jae, and the Bookgeek Click on the invitation below to join in on the fun!

“All winners and runner-ups of lesbian fiction at the Rainbow Awards 2013 are invited to join us at the virtual living room where readers and authors of lesbian fiction meet to celebrate and tell us about their fabulous book(s).”

You can bet I’ll be there with all of you fabulous women! Don’t miss the after-party. It’s sure to be fun.
