DAY 9 of the 12-Day Holiday Hootenanny, 2013!

Hootenanny.Day9You’re back, aren’t you? Because you, too, are caught up in the overwhelming awesome-ness, merry-making, and screwball nuttiness that is the Hootenanny. It’s okay. You can admit it. In fact, JOIN RIGHT IN! The elves just came back with another keg of eggnog (kegnog?) and Blitzen’s baking cookies (again) and Donner has started another dance party in the barn (although if I have to hear the techno version of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” again, I might throw the kegnog at him).

Point being, WE ARE NOT DONE HERE, PEOPLE! This is but Day 9! More chances to win! More authors to discover! Speaking of, THANK YOU SO MUCH to the authors and publishing houses who graciously joined us in this craziness and donated books. Thank you for your generosity, and for agreeing to this holiday extravaganza.

(Here’s a bit of our version of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”)

Dancin’ around the Christmas tree
at the Hootenanny hop
mistletoe hidden where elves can’t see
otherwise they just wouldn’t stop

Stacking the books round the Christmas tree
Let the holiday fun begin
Have a few of Blitzen’s cookies
crank up the caroling

You’ll get a warm fuzzy feeling when you hear the elves singing
Let’s be jolly, deck the halls with lots of holly
Dancin’ around the Christmas tree
Have a happy hootenanny
Everyone’s dancing crazily
and handing books out merrily!

Okay. Below is the list for today’s giveaways. The first winner drawn receives the first book on the list, the second receives the second, and so on. If you want to play, put a comment on this blog. Please provide a valid email address in the comment fill-out form. Do not freak. Only us and the elves will see that address. Do NOT include your email address in the comment body, because the ice lords of Screwyouistan have released their evil spam-bots to suck that address into the bowels of the internet where they’ll then make sure it’s inundated with more spam than you could possibly cook in a lifetime. We’re trying to help, people. Don’t put your email address in your comment body. Oh, and one entry per person per day, please. Share the luv. ๐Ÿ™‚

The drawing closes at 10 PM EST (here’s your world clock for easy reference if you’re not in the US). We do the drawing right after we close it, and then we pass the winners’ contact info along to the authors, who will contact you directly. We also post the winners’ names on this blog. So give the author a little bit of lag time to contact you. If you win a publisher’s book, we here at Women and Words contact the winners to get information to submit to the publisher.

And authors, if your book is featured today, please refrain from participating in this drawing. Cuz, you know. Weird, if you won your own book.

Ready? Then let’s have at!

KARIS WALSH WINNER: Anna Muir

Karis is doing winner’s choice today, as well. But how about snagging a copy of Sea Glass Inn, which just won a Rainbow Award for best lesbian contemporary romance? Regardless, you won’t go wrong with Karis. Go check out her books HERE.

RE BRADSHAW WINNER: Annabel

Lambda finalist RE Bradshaw is doing winner’s choice today! Perhaps you’d like to indulge in some of her standalones, like Rainbow Award runner-up Out on the Panhandle. Or perhaps the loves and lives of Sweet Carolina Girls. Or perhaps the story of a woman picking up the pieces after a betrayal in Before It Stains. Or you could always go with her Rainey Bell mysteries. Go peruse.

STEVIE CARROLL WINNER: larryg5751

source

Entertaining, provocative, heart-warming anthology of short stories on what it means to be LGBTQ in Britain, past and present. Includes work by Stevie Carroll.

ALI SPOONERTWO BOOKS, 1 WINNER! WINNER: Donna Landers

Simone, a travel photographer and Celine, a retired basketball player, meet in the Grand Cayman Islands. Sparks fly. But will love blossom, too? Winner gets that novella PLUS another of Ali’s novellas, Cowgirl Up or Sell the Horse. Here, Coal loses her lover in Afghanistan but she finds solace in work on a ranch, ironically owned by a man who died with Coal’s lost love. She finds a place for herself on the ranch, and realizes that she still has the capacity to love when she meets Mary Leah.

KIM PRITEKEL WINNER: Susan Champeau

Erin Riggs leads a reasonably normal life, though she has uncommon fears about branching out and exploring her world. Tamson Robard left home as a teen to escape a dysfunctional mother. Now she struggles with drugs. The two will discover, together, buried truths that will lead them down dark paths. Can the collision of their worlds save them both? Winner gets a copy to find out.

BARRETT WINNER: Valerie

Barrett’s latest is hot off the press! Silke Dyson is a sculptor who’s left vision-impaired after an assault. Kirin Foster is a travel magazine writer. The two meet unexpectedly on a plane flight to Belize. While in Belize, they realize they have a few things in common, including the fact that they both live in Milwaukee. Can the spark from Belize burn brighter once they’re back in their real lives? If you win, you’ll find out!

LAYCE GARDNER WINNER: kmccowan57

When Dana meets Ellen, it’s love at first sight for her. Problem is, Dana meets her at an AA meeting and Dana is only going as wingman for her BFF Trudy, who’s there trying to pick up men…you see where this could be going, right? Well, Layce will definitely lead you down several hilarious roads because whoever said love was easy was a big ol’ liar. Winner gets a copy of A Perfect Romance.

CARRIE CARR WINNER: trish

Part of the Lex and Amanda series. Here, our heroines struggle through a drought at the Rocking W Ranch and deal with raising their two daughters. But someone shows up from the past who needs an unusual favor. Will they do it? Considering the request, how could they refuse? Winner gets a print copy to find out!

  7. KEGNOG!! That’s hysterical. Back in my crazy college days I once did a keg-stand. LOL I seriously love the Hootenanny, but think I will have to limit myself to non-acrobatic partying!

  8. The books have been great all along. Many of the authors I’ve read before, a lot are new but I don’t have a single book on the list…and would be grateful for any one of them.

  9. This is a popular contest. The books must be great. I know my Mom spends every free minute reading her “lesfic” books. Hope I can win one for her.
