Hootenanny 2014 – Day 1

HOLY FREAKIN’ MOLY, peeps! HERE IT IS! OMG did you even think December would roll around again and we’d throw ourselves into the fray like crazed mud wrestlers at a four-by-four derby?

Obviously, you misjudged us. BECAUSE OF COURSE WE’RE GOING TO DO THAT!

Tucker the merry elf is bringing in supplies for the festivities.
Tucker the merry elf is bringing in supplies for the festivities.

WELCOME to the 2014 oh, no they di’n’t Hootenanny at Women and Words! Before we give you all the particulars n’ all of that, BIG SHOUT-OUT to all the authors and publishers who agreed to enable our yearly madness by graciously and generously putting books up for the holiday goodness and cheer. We could not do this event without you, and we hope you realize how much fun and luuuuuv you manage to share through this here nutso crazy time blow-the-roof-off-everything giveaway. Because you do. Thank you so much.

This year, quite a few authors have put up 2-packs or 3-packs. What that means, darlings, is ONE lucky winner will be inundated with 2 or 3 books from one author. Some authors went even crazier and are offering up more titles than that to a winner. So put THAT in your stocking and dance around! So keep your eyes open for those.

And now, dear readers, you will be subjected to TWELVE DAYS of giveaways, craziness, and whatever hijinks the merry elves get up to.

To play, make sure you enter each day because each day is its own special drawing. Don’t just enter today and think “oh, yeah, I’m golden for the whole thing with this one comment on this one day and soon I’ll have so many books stacked up in my house or on my ereader that the sheer weight of the glorious-ness will cause my virtual and actual floorboards to sag.” No, sugarplum, that’s not how we do this here shindig.

You need to enter each and every day to be considered for each day’s drawing, because each day’s list of books are good only for that day.

And we draw the winners in the order the books appear below. So if we draw your name first, you win the first book. Second name drawn wins the second, and so on. That keeps it from getting super confusing and driving us to consume extra (spiked) eggnog.

So come back every day and hang out with the WaW crew, elf posse, and nutty reindeer for a chance to win some groovy, awesome books. We’re pretty sure there’s bound to be SOMETHING up in here that you’ll like/be intrigued by, so keep coming back and enter the drawings.

To enter today’s most righteous book luv drawing, leave a comment on this blog. Please, friends, ONE entry per person per day. Let’s share the luv.

Make sure you include your email address in the comment fill-out form (do NOT put your address in the comment body — the merry elves only have so much time to chase spambots around the interwebz to protect you). Don’t worry! Only the WaW crew and the elves will see your address and we lock it in the peppermint vault to make sure it’s safe n’ sound.

The drawing closes at 10 PM EST US (world clock linkie) and we do the drawing as soon as we close it. We will contact you via email if you win and we will post the winners’ names on this blog. If you see your name on the blog but you haven’t received an email from us, check your spam filter. We notify as soon as we have our list of winners.

And authors, if your book is featured today, please don’t enter today’s drawing. Because that would be super weird if you won your own book. I mean, you already know what happens in it, after all.

NOTE: Unfortunately, it has become prohibitively expensive to ship paperback books out of the country from the U.S. Because of that, paperbacks are not always available to non-U.S. readers. We’ve specified that on the entries and we do apologize in advance that we and U.S.-based authors and publishers simply can’t always accommodate non-U.S. readers with regard to shipping paperbacks.

So howsabout we get this party started?

(hint: “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”)

Readin’ around the Christmas tree
at the Hootenanny hop
Merry elves hiding where you can’t see
all the books up to adopt

Readin’ around the Christmas tree
let the holiday spirits ring
the elves ate all the pumpkin pie
so we’re stuck with caroling

You might need some spiked eggnog when you hear
the elves all singing let’s be jolly
deck the halls with books, not holly

Readin’ around the Christmas tree
hope you win a book today
everyone loves the Hootenanny
it’s the nuttiest give…a…WAAAAAAY!
