Site Maintenance

Hey! It’s Wednesday and once again the day has gotten completely away from me. We’ll continue our conversation about what makes a great book next time around. Today, however, I have a few site maintenance things to review. Some of it will feel like old news. But some might be a complete surprise.

First up, we’ve added a new podcast segment to Women and Words called “Voices of Lesbian Literature.” It’s hosted by the fabulous Marion Dries. If you didn’t catch the first episode, you can check it out HERE.

Also, if you’re interested in being a guest on “Voices of Lesbian Literature,” go ahead and send us a request. It’s super simple. See the tab up there that says “Be Our Guest”? Go ahead and click on that, fill out the form, and choose “Interview with Marion Dries” on the dropdown menu. No guarantees that Marion will be able to fit everyone into her schedule, but it’s far more likely if she knows you’re interested than if she doesn’t.

Next up, have y’all seen the Women and Words T-shirts? We’ve added an order form to the website menu. See it up there? The tab that says “T-shirt Order Form.” Yeah, click that one. There are four different designs and they cost $18 plus shipping. Most importantly, the profits will be donated to GCLS. Because, you know, they’re awesome. And stuff.

Speaking of GCLS, Women and Words will be there! Will you? Drop by and say hello if you’re around. We have a couple of vendor tables. No, we won’t try to sell you anything, but we will probably try to give you some swag. And Andi could probably be persuaded to give you a hug. She’s the friendly one. Oh, and remember the T-shirts? We’re going to give a way a few at this years event. So you should come check that out.

Just a reminder, if you’re looking to be a guest here on Women and Words, we have a very strict vetting process. Want to hear about it?

First, you have to contact us. Preferably by filling out the form up there labeled “Be Our Guest.” Or you could fill out the “Contact” tab, but that adds an extra layer to the communication chain. “Be Our Guest” emails come to me (Jove), and the “Contact” emails go to Andi, and then she forwards them to me if it’s a request for a guest spot. Or, if you don’t like forms, you could email me or Andi directly, but again, if you email Andi, she’s just going to forward it to me.

Next step, we’ll check to make sure that you are in fact real. No, we won’t conduct a background check. Who has time for that? But we might jump over to and see what you’re up to there.

Finally, someone (like me) will contact you with a schedule date and the guidelines.

That’s it. Keep in mind, if you’re looking to promote a specific work, we are usually scheduled a few months in advance, for example, the next open spot I have right now is toward the end of July.

If you’re an author looking for a venue for your short stories, check out the tab up there called “Calls for Submissions.” Anytime we hear of a new call, we toss it up there. If you come across a call, or if you’re an editor with your own call, let us know about it. You can fill out the “Contact” form with all the pertinent deets and we’ll share the call.

That’s it for now. Until next time, happy writing. And reading. 🙂
