Busy up in here!

Hey folks! We, the women of Women and Words, are all manner of busy these days. We’re gearing up for The Hootenanny 2015. Woo!

Do y’all remember what that is? Here’s a link to the fun last year to help you reaquaint yourself to our peculiar brand of holiday celebration. HOOTENANNY 2014

This year, we’re discussing the possibility of adding another layer to the event. Every year, we get offers from readers who would like to contribute books to give away in addition to the author/publisher supplied books. With that in mind, we’re throwing the question out to the readers in the audience. Anyone out there want to donate a book or two?

Also, instead of books only, this year we’re toying with the idea of giving away swag as well. Maybe some T-shirts, bookmarks, magnets, and other things along those lines. What do y’all think? Any interest there or should we stick exclusively to  books.

We’re madly at work compiling our list of contributors and the closer we get to December, the more excited I get about the whole thing. So, if you have a moment, please share your thoughts. We put this together for y’all. We’d love to get your take on things.

  1. Jove, I like the idea of adding other types of items. You could always have those on a special day (just an idea) so those who aren’t interested could opt out of participating. The more the merrier when it comes to the Hootenanny! I know my household looks forward to this event every year!

  2. The annual Hootenanny is always welcome 🙂

Swag would be awesome, I think it’s a great idea. Mostly because I’ve already read most of the books being offered. So swag would definitely interest me.

And for readers to give back? Even better. I’ve got a copy of ‘Annie on My Mind’ from Nancy Garden if you want to put it in the reader giveaway pool.

      1. Well if past Hootenanny’s are any guide I usually have read 8 out of 10. I got super lucky …. … last year I think? Where I won an e-copy of Jody Klaire’s ‘The Empath’ which I hadn’t read. It was uber awesome of course and have read all her stuff since.

  3. Bring on hootananny ’15!!!
Whilst I love the idea of other giveaways (t-shirts etc) I think shipping would be prohibitive for those of us are not in the USA (I’m in Oz) 😦
Just the chance of winning an e-book is fantatstic 🙂
    Hoot Hoot ’15…can’t wait!
    Cheers

  4. Three beers, I mean cheers for the Merry Elves! If we are throwing out ideas, I’d wish for the opportunity to win an audiobook! I’ve yet to buy one, so I don’t know how that would work…Also, as a grand prize, a complete series would be super fab! It would also be cool to have the ‘contestants’ prove their cleverness by composing a poem or jingle for the grand giveaway LOL!!! 😳 Whatever the elves choose, it is always a riot! Thanks for asking 😎

  5. Any goodies are fab as the whole hootenanny idea is a delight and extras would just add to the excitement… I think costs are an issue though… I do find it annoying when I’m drawn into a comp and it says U.S. Participants only unless that’s said upfront… Ebooks mean that authors don’t have to worry about overseas posting at a costly time of year? The generosity is always astonishing and my thanks to all you folks who invest all the time making it special when there’s so much else to do – thank you…

  6. I’m new to the hootenanny, but it sounds freaking awesome. This is such a fun and helpful page. You guys are all great. Thank you for working so hard and keeping us up to date on submission calls, new authors, books, etc and for having giveaways too. Y’all rock. 🙂
