A couple of announcements…

Hi, everybody —

Here in the States, a lot of people have been doing the Thanksgiving thing (including me), so we’ve been chillin’.

We’re also gearing up for the giant massive crazy oh no they di’n’t giveaway we call the Hootenanny (here’s info about last year’s, in case you don’t know what the Hootenanny is and OMG where have you been). TWELVE DAYS. That’s right. TWELVE FREAKING DAYS of giveaways. That starts next month (like, in 2 weeks…) and at that point, things get completely outta control here as we give away sh*t-tons of books and party with the merry elves up in here. And this year, we’re going to be throwing some other things in the mix to give away because we luv us some Hootenanny and we luv giving things away. So stay tuned. We’ll have more info the closer we get.

OTHER THINGS, while I’m thinking about stuff.

Also, GCLS is still taking nominations.

THIS LINK shows you the schedule to submit. Books published later in the year are still eligible.

And you guys, I’m totally pimping this CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS for the anthology I’m co-editing with R.G. Emanuelle:

Order Up: A Menu of Lesbian Romance and Erotica is slated for publication next spring by Ylva Publishing. It’s the follow-up to our Lambda and Goldie finalist, All You Can Eat: A Buffet of Lesbian Romance and Erotica. cover_A_Order-Up_500x800-188x300

YOU HAVE UNTIL JANUARY 15 TO SUBMIT A STORY TO US FOR CONSIDERATION! Here’s the link again for the guidelines. Send us your best polished sexy/romantic food-themed story! And yes, like in Order Up, include a recipe. 😀

Happy Friday!

  1. Very excited about the Hootenanny. This will be my first one 🙂 12 days of treats. That’s awfully nice of y’all. And the Order Up Anthology also intrigues me. I’m finishing up another contest and then I’ll be hitting yours up. 🙂 Is the original recipe required?? or just a request. I love to write but making up recipes isn’t my bag. Hope you had a kick ass Thanksgiving. Mine was yummy and happy. Just finished a nice turkey sandwich for my dinner and I’m feeling like the fat cat in the picture you shared above 😀

    • Howdy. We strongly recommend a recipe. Every story has one in All You Can Eat, and we’re trying to continue the tradition in Order Up. Some are actual recipes based on the food in the stories while others are sort of cute takes on romance, like ingredients for a romantic summer evening and the like.

Have a look at All You Can Eat to see how authors incorporated food and recipes in a variety of settings. Not all of the recipes, as I mentioned, are food based. Here’s the description from All You Can Eat:

“Each story also ends with a recipe. Some of these require cooking implements while others are whimsical accompaniments that don’t require cooking at all—at least not in the traditional sense. After all, food serves as more than sustenance—it’s a trigger for love, laughter, sex, pleasure, and carnal and sensory satisfaction. Whatever your palate prefers, you’re sure to find something tasty here.”

Good luck and thanks for considering us as a possible venue for your work!

      • Ok. I just bought a copy of “All you Can Eat.” I read the yummy orange first story and I think I get it now. That kind of recipe seems very doable. Thanks for your help. And now I really want an orange. 🙂
