Hootenanny 2015 – Day 3

day3Oh, COME ON! This is only the third day! Surely you’re not about to take a nap now! This party is JUST GETTING STARTED. The merry elves are busy stacking books, drinking eggnog, decorating the reindeer tree and getting the Kwanzaa candles all ready to go. There can never be enough candles. And sometimes they’re used as hockey sticks on the pond. Some have started celebrating Solstice. At least I think that’s what they’re doing…YOU GUYS! I told you not to put the replica of Stonehenge in the neighbor’s front yard! And get Rudolph off their roof! Geez. They’ll be home soon.

Swear, they get wilder every year.

Speaking of, THANK YOU publishers and authors for donating the goodies to this event. It’s not doable without you, nosiree. And we so appreciate what you’ve done to help us make this event rock n’ roll. Readers, a huge thanks to you, too, for participating and helping us share the LUUUUV. The merry elves resurrected their idea from last year about creating a live Hootenanny circuit party, with crazy all around and DJs and dancing. I pointed out they were already doing that in the back, but they thought it would be more fun with all of YOU in reader-, author-, and publisher-land. We’ll get back to you on that plan.

And thanks, too, to fellow author and Women and Wordster R.G. Emanuelle for helping with the Tucker photobombs, many of which caused us to giggle like 8-year-olds.

Chillin' with the reindeer before the rooftop dance party.
Chillin’ with the reindeer before the rooftop dance party.

Most of you have been around long enough to know how this works, but if you’re a newbie, here’s the deal. Each day is a different drawing, so you need to enter EVERY DAY to win books. To enter today’s drawing, put a comment on this here blog. Make sure you include your email address in the comment fill-out form, but not in the comment body. That keeps the creepy frost goblins from Krampus-land from stealing your email address with their minion spambots. Only the elves in the back will see your emails, and they keep those locked up tight.

We close the drawing at 10 PM EST US (world clock linkie) and then the elves get right to work on drawing the winners. Once we have our list, we notify winners and post their names on the blog. If you see your name here but you don’t have an email from us, check your spam filter.

AUTHORS/PUBLISHERS! If you’re listed today, please don’t sign up for the drawing. Because that’s just ain’t right, winning your own book. And on paperback books, if there’s no region specification, that indicates an author will ship anywhere.

First name drawn gets the first book on the list, second name gets the second book, and so on. That keeps the crazy to a minimum (ha! Like that’s even possible!) back here. which is nutso coo-coo on a good day.

AND don’t forget to get yourself signed up for the Rafflecopter drawings! You only need to enter once, and if you haven’t already, here’s your chance. It closes the last day of the Hootenanny (Dec. 23) at 10 PM EST US. Click the reindeer below.

(hint: “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear“)

We’ll read at night ’til midnight, dear
These glorious books we hold
From ebook to paper we don’t really care
We love them all, they’re gold!

Books galore and tinsel too
From the Hoot-eh-nanny’s stash
The swag is crazy so much to do
We’re here to have our bash!

Shall we go to booktown? Have fun and good luck!

  1. I think I hear reindeer on the roof and they are planning to drop a book down my chimney for a little reading pleasure during these cold winter days!

  2. And the merriment happily continues. I love every bit of it. The reworking of Christmas carols, the naughty elf popping up all over, the authors and publishers for contributing, and the fun blogs to along with all the awesome treats. Thanks to all involved for all your hard work! Best of all, I’m finding new books I never heard of to add to my wish list and after Christmas with whatever funds I have left I may just treat myself to the top five on my list. 🙂 Backcast totally caught my eye today. Any book compared to Fried Green Tomatoes has me at, hello. 🙂 And I saw on Amazon that it’s even available as an audio book. Woo hoo! Happy hootenanny to all.

  9. A special thanks to your great blog and all the authors and publishers who have put their books on offer here. A special thought to Sandra Moran who is no longer with us, but who will live on forever thanks to the great books she wrote. Xmas cheer from Italy to all of you. Buon Natale

  10. I heard something about cinnamon moonshine in the eggnog. I’d like some of that. Actually, I’d settle for just plain eggnog among these Kiwis who’ve never heard of our creamy concoction. Do you think the elves will share? Anyway, thanks to the elves and the wordsters for all that you do.

      1. It’s true, Andi. Sad, but true. No coffee ice cream and no eggnog. The marvelous TJ Whittle came up with a decent substitute for the coffee ice cream, but I am reluctant to make eggnog from scratch. I prefer being blissfully ignorant of the quantity of eggs I consume.

  12. Hi there,
Well, it’s that time of year where something magical is supposed to happen. So here’s wishing everyone happy holidays, a very Merry Christmas, and Season’s Greetings.

  13. Question:Do you have to go to each book on the list of the day and put your name in under it? For example today for Sandra Moran’s books, do I somehow go into each book and put my name? Same with the other books and publishers? If so, how do you do that?

    1. Hi, Layne–I’m pretty sure we cleared this up on Facebook. You cannot enter for individual books. That’s just too confusing for us and the elves, because then we’d basically be doing separate drawings for every book we list, and that’s just out of control. As we state above, we give out the books in the order we draw the winners. The first person drawn gets the first prize listed. The second the second. The third the third. And so on. That ensures that we’re able to keep these things moving. 😀

    1. Hi, Julie–unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that. We give the prizes out in the order they’re listed. As we state above, the first name drawn gets the first book(s) listed, the second the second, and so on. We try to accommodate as best we can, but some publishers do not have paperback versions of their books, and the same goes for authors, as I explained yesterday. We try to make this process as easy as possible on all of us, and unfortunately, we can’t make guarantees about the format anybody wins, since we go down the list of books from the top when we do the drawings. Hope you understand.

    1. Hey, Julie! Good luck in the drawing. Paperbacks are only an option if the author/publisher is offering them. Also, this is entry three for today. We ask folks to only drop one comment because you can only be entered into the drawing one time per day. More than one comment just confuses folks (mostly me) when it comes time to do the name draw.

  16. Geez…I’ve been negligent at spending time on fb this past weekend. I’m blaming it on holiday parties with coworkers, family and friends. Glad I found my way here today! It’s so much more fun than working today.
