Hootenanny 2015 — Day 5

day5How are you holding up, my little lords a’ leaping and ladies dancing? Still with us? We’re not even halfway through! C’MON! I just had to pull a bunch of tinsel out of the ceiling fans and the reindeer woke up to find their antlers all decorated with lights. Blinking. I don’t know how the elves pulled that one off. Maybe they spiked the eggnog last night so the reindeer would sleep through the hijinks. Actually, I don’t even know how anyone sleeps around here when we’re in the middle of the Hootenanny. I just sent Tucker out for more coffee and candy canes. We’ll see what else he brings back.

Tucker thinks he can class this joint up. Yeah, we'll see how long THAT lasts...
Tucker thinks he can class this joint up. Yeah, we’ll see how long THAT lasts…

Before we do anything else, our unending gratitude to all the authors and publishers who donated books and other stuff for this event. We could not do it without you. And we sure has heck wouldn’t have a reason to do it without YOU, the readers. THANK YOU for all your support and luv over the years. You are a big part of why we love this community.

Darlings, if you haven’t been here before, here’s how it works. Every day is a new book drawing, so you need to enter every day to be considered for that day’s books. All you have to do is put a comment below and BOOM entered. Make sure you include your email address in the comment fill-out form (the elves keep it safe in the back), but do NOT put it in the comment body. There are creepy anti-holiday and anti-fun freaks out there who just love stealing your email and running it through a spambot.

We close the drawing at 10 PM EST US time (here’s your groovy world clock so you know when in the world you are). We do the drawing immediately after we close it down and then we notify the winners via email. Once we do that, we post the winners’ names on each day’s blog. If you see your name but you didn’t get an email, check your spam filter. Books will be awarded based on the order of winners drawn. First person drawn gets the first book on the list, second the second, and so on. It’s hard enough keeping track of the elves back here. We figured this would ensure our heads don’t explode.

AUTHORS AND PUBLISHERS, please refrain from entering a drawing on a day your book is featured. That is totes non-festive, to win your own book. And we specify where in the world a paperback will be shipped. If there’s no specification, the author/publisher will ship anywhere.

Don’t forget to sign up for the Rafflecopter swag! You only need to enter ONCE for this one, and it runs through the whole Hootenanny, closing Dec. 23 at 10 PM EST. So if you haven’t yet, here you go. Click the reindeer below.

CHRISTINA GLENDENNING – Winners Mary Fran Galat and benipardy

TWO WINNERS ALERT! Christina has 2 PAPERBACKS (US only) for two winners! Searching for Gods that Deceive Us is the sweeping story of two lovers separated by religious dogma who reunite and they pay their love forward by helping a devastated father accept his gay son. You’ll probably need tissues.

TONIE CHACON – Winner Rosi

Tonie’s got an EBOOK copy of her debut historical romance, Struck: A Titanic Love Story. And we know she’d appreciate that all the merry elves just busted into “My Heart Will Go On.” Anyway, what’s not to love, here? History! Big ships! Romance! Epic! Lesbians on the Titanic and, like the ship, their hearts were on a collision course with destiny.

TRACEY RICHARDSON – Winner RJ

Tracey’s going to hook a lucky winner up with an EBOOK of A Song In My Heart. Music star Dess Hampton has it all, and then one day her voice is silenced. She still plays her guitar and savors each day, but then her curiosity gets the best of her and she emerges out of her reclusive-ness to hear Erika Alvarez, a star in the making, who is awed when Dess does that and even agrees to sit in on a few sessions with her. Dess knows Erika’s on the road to the life she no longer wants. Will Erika still her ambition to be with Dess? Or will they find a way to make this work? Win and see!

MARIANNE K. MARTIN – Winners mb panichi and Julie Harrison

TWO WINNERS ALERT! Marianne, one of the most grounded trailblazers among us, will be with us throughout the Hootenanny this year, offering books hither and yon. Two winners get their choice choice of any of her books, EBOOK or PAPERBACK (US only for paperback). Will it be her Lambda finalist titles, Tangled Roots, about the struggles of two women in 1916 Georgia or perhaps Under the Witness Tree, in which a woman goes South to settle an estate and finds something else entirely or maybe Mirrors, which addresses anti-LGBT bullying. Whatever your choice, you won’t go wrong with Marianne. Click HERE for a list of all her books.

SALLY BELLEROSE – Winner Leeann Keaton

Sally has a PAPERBACK (US only) copy of the Lambda finalist The Girls’ Club up for grabs: Sisterhood. The buzzword of the seventies, the key to women’s liberation. But for Catholic working class girls like Marie, Renee, and Cora Rose LaBarre, sisterhood is a word that covers a multitude of attitudes. They’re best friends, worst enemies, greatest supporters and biggest detractors. Set in the decade of opening doors, The Girls Club follows the three sisters as they love, argue, and struggle their way through adolescence to womanhood, taking in religion, illness, parenting, sexuality, drugs, and rock ‘n roll on the way. Win it for this blast from the past.

TWO WINNERS ALERT! The mighty Mavis has a PAPERBACK (US only) copy of Finding My Way ready to go for a lucky winner AND a first edition PAPERBACK of her mystery Checkmate. Finding My Way is a classic romance about coming out and learning that life doesn’t always go as planned. Dr. Stephanie Grant has planned every detail of her life. She accepts a teaching position at Prower University, which was part of that plan. But then she meets Alex Kendell and suddenly Stephanie’s life is off that plan. Can she go with it? Win and see!

MELISSA FOSTER – Winners Vanessa and laydin

She’s got TWO EBOOK copies ready to go for two winners…Delilah Armstrong thought she could finally follow her heart and come out to her closest friends in the wake of her parents’ deaths, but the guilt of going against her parents’ beliefs haunts her even as the feelings she has for her best friend, Ashley, are stronger than anything she’s felt before. But Delilah has never even kissed a woman, and fear stops her at every turn. Can she overcome it? Win and see!

FIONA ZEDDE – Winner Jenn D

Fiona’s got a smokin’ hot EBOOK or PAPERBACK (US only) copy of her latest, To Italy With Love. 1. Well, WELCOME. I think this is year 5 for the Hootenanny. Jove, is it really that many? O_O

For some reason, we thought it up, thought 12 days would be awesome, and then tons of authors and publishers agreed and…this is what we have going. It’s almost a tradition!

  4. Ah day 5. We kicked up the eggnog party here at Log Cabin Cafe. Two finger of shine and an appropriate amount of nog to justify the second glass. We don’t remember a whole lot after the elf patrol car pulled into the driveway BUT, there were no candy canes injured and the the cats will eventually climb out of their places of hiding. :p

  5. You know … the problem with this Hootenanny is that it emphasizes the fact that I’M NOT READY FOR THE HOLIDAYS. Therefore, winning would relieve the stress a great deal. Just sayin’

  6. Good afternoon & happy hootenanny. Another day and more awesome new books I never heard of. This is so cool. My wish list runneth over. Titanic with lesbians? Hell yes. Sounds great to me. And if you haven’t read, “All You Can Eat” yet I can personally testify it is yummy and full of good times, great eats, and hot romance. Happy holidays to the merry elves and all the contributors. 🙂

But, I want to thank the elves, reindeers, Andi and others as well as the authors who have donated their precious wares and the publishing companies! You all ROCK in my eyes.
