Hootenanny 2015 — Day 9

Christmas Present With Golden Sparkling BackgroundWe’re on the home stretch, my little dancing sugarplums. BUT DON’T WORRY. We’re still partying like it’s 1999 or something back here because there are still books and there’s still cool stuff to give away and OMG it’s the awesome! Some of the elves are making those popcorn strings for the tree, but the reindeer keep eating the popcorn, so they haven’t gotten very far. We’re running low on eggnog (I knew that would happen) but somebody started the snow cone machine and everybody’s running around with either a blue tongue or a purple one. Somebody left a couple of hockey sticks and toy light sabers on the roof. They’ll fall off soon with the dance parties going on up there. I am a little tired of Darth Vader’s Imperial March, though. Bet you didn’t know there was a dance mix, did you?

But it’s all for the luv! We do this once a year, so why not make it a massive visit to nuttytown? At top speed, no less?

No doubt Tucker is conspiring by the fire.
No doubt Tucker is conspiring by the fire.

Regardless, THANK YOU to all the publishers and authors who gladly provided books and other cool stuff so that we could give it away to YOU, the readers who are such a major part of this community. Thanks to all of you.

And for the record, today’s banner is my personal fave. πŸ˜€

You all probably know how this works, but sometimes folks get caught up in the eggnog or the various techno versions of holiday songs and they forget. So. To enter today’s book drawing, leave a comment on this blog. Every day is a new drawing, so if you want in, you’ve got to do that. Make sure you include your email address in the comment fill-out form, but NOT in the comment body. Last night, we totally chased an ice gorgon off (those toy light sabers come in handy) that was trying to release spambots onto the intertoobz, so we’re just trying to help you take precautions.

The drawing closes at 10 PM EST US time (world clock to figure out when that is for you) after which we immediately get into the drawing. Once we have our list of winners, we notify via email and we also post the names right here on the blog. So if you see your name on the blog but you haven’t gotten an email from us, check your spam filter. We give books away in the order they’re drawn. That is, the first person drawn gets the first book on the list, the second the second, and so on. That keeps us from having to go get high in the peppermint vault because it keeps confusion to a minimum.

AUTHORS AND PUBLISHERS! If you’ve got anything up for grabs today, please do not enter the drawing. That’s so not fun, if you win your own stuff. We’ve also delineated where an author or publisher will ship a paperback. If there’s no delineation, that means they’ll ship anywhere.

And remember, we have our concurrent Rafflecopter giveaway going on with oodles of swaginess. It closes on Dec. 23 at 10 PM EST US. You only need to enter ONCE for the whole 12 days, so if you haven’t yet, here’s your chance. Click the reindeer below:

(hint: “Let It Snow“)

Oh, tons of books are insightful
And hot chocolate so delightful
Since you don’t have to go
Let it flow let it flow let it flow

There are no signs of stopping
And the elves are always hopping
Turn your ereader glare down low
Let it flow let it flow let it flow

When we finally finish this book
How we hate that it’s come to an end
But come along and take a look
Here’s your chance to win again!

All right. Let’s just move on, shall we? BEHOLD! MOAR AWESOME! Good luck and have fun!

SANDRA MORAN – Winner leeannac

Award-winning author, professor, and joyful spirit Sandra Moran never met a stranger. To know her was to love her, and to read her work was to love her, too. Sandra was diagnosed with a horrific cancer in October 2015. She left this world on November 7th at the age of 46. She would have been 47 today. In honor of her contributions to literature and to the communities in which she lived and worked, Bedazzled Ink Publishing is offering another set of Sandra’s books to a winner, EBOOK or PAPERBACK (US only). Gabrielle has left a floundering relationship behind in New York and travels to Florida to undergo the last of her chemotherapy. Her prognosis is excellent, but her journey since the initial cancer diagnosis has been rocky. The appearance of a dolphin in their cove coincides with Gabrielle’s arrival next door. With each unannounced visit, he inspires Gabrielle and Madison as he gently nudges them together. Soon, Madison is accompanying Gabrielle to her treatments. 2. Ho Ho Ho! I’m thrilled with what I have won here this year! I was gonna say I was gonna back out today and let everyone else have a chance with one less person to compete with than I saw that proverbial low hanging fruit… The books by Sandra Moran! So, I have to enter! Thank you all for doing this and your hard work is not gone by unnoticed at least not by me! Merry Christmas all!

  3. I have a few of these, but some I need, so I’ll put my name in and hope for the best. If I’m lucky enough to Win and already own it, it will be a great gift

  4. Happy happy Hootenanny πŸ™‚ Winner, Winner chicken Dinner. I snagged a great book. Cowabunga! πŸ™‚ Thank y’all so much. Merry elves jingle bell rock like no one else. All aboard the Elf Express to nutty town πŸ™‚

  5. good heavens is it day 9 already? wow, time flies when you are having fun. So now, a book by Chris Payntor and The Job by Jove Bell, would round up my Christmas reading list quite nicely thank you. Skol!

  6. Wow…. Day 9…. And another wonderful selection of books and authors. Having a lazy reading sunday. Thank you for the awesome party going on here.

  7. I check the blog every day not only to jump in on the giveaways, but because these posts are so darn amusing! The banners are awesome! I think I like today’s best of all, too. I tried to string popcorn for the tree once. It ended badly. Never did it again, so I admire anyone or any Elf that can do it successfully!

  8. The selection is so delightful
    With stories so insightful
    So if you’re still offering
Hope I win, hope I win, hope I win!!!

Couldn’t let this year’s Hootenanny go by without contributing at least one silly rhyme!:)

Thanks again, y’all. And mind you don’t fall off the roof while partying up there with the reindeer!

  10. Good evening! Sunny, springlike day. Is it really Christmas coming? I’d rather guess Easter.

  11. I’ve eventually googled “eggnog” to see what all the fuss is about.
It seems to be delicious. I’m going to make one!
    Very Beautiful banner today.

  12. Okay I’m commenting not to get in the drawing, but to say that no offense but am I the only one who thinks elf on the shelf is just plain creepy. It’s like those scary clowns to me. I hate clowns! On a serious note, thanks Andi for doing this. It is really a wonderful thing that you do every year. I didn’t know about it before, but now that I do I will hopefully have more offerings for people in future years.

    • Tucker won’t be offended. He’s too much of a merry gadabout! And if you Google stuff like “bad elf on the shelf” you’ll come across some hilarious/macabre photos that people have staged with their elves on the shelf. I like the mystique, actually, that an elf on the shelf can pretty much be whatever you want, and staged however you want. πŸ˜€

  13. I have to congratulate the person(s) that write the lyrics to the cool songs you post each day. Well done and so much fun!

  14. I found the Peppermint the vault. Everything looks all fuzzy….maybe I shouldn’t have been huffing the mint. Merry merry.

  17. Thank you so much for dong this each year and showing Tucker’s adventures! This is a lot of fun to break up the Christmas rushing around!

  18. On the 9th day of Hootenanny the merry elves gave to me….another chance to win fabulous books! πŸ™‚

  19. Well in the words of Grandpap “if you don’t do no sinnin on Saturday, the Lord can’t do no savin on Sunday”. He was pretty wise so we invited the neighbors down who brought more moonshine. Grandpap came down and so now we are in dutch with Grandma. She showed up this morning and with her broom as her alarm clock, shuffles us all off to the little country church. Pass the collection plate and the asprin while your at it. Shhhhhhh, dont type so loud. Hoot.

  21. I have about half of these books written by some of my favorite nutjobs — maybe I will win one of the others! Thank you.

  22. Not that everyday hasn’t been a great collection of books, but it seems you have outdone yourselves today.

  23. Yes please! Count me in. Another good selection of books. I can’t believe there is only a few days left. X

  24. Boy howdy, I’d love the Sandra Moran as epub, and From the Hat Down (as I’ve already read From the Boots up.) Hooray for the Hootenany!

  25. I would so love a Sandra Moran book. When I found out she was diagnosed with F**king Cancer and myself a survivor, she inspired me to get to writing and “be my true authentic self”-Ann McMan. To write what I wanted to write and to not quit!

  26. When it rains it pours looks like a rainy Christmas for me so plenty of books will keep me warm. Count me in please
