Hootenanny 2016 – Day 7

A tangled ball of Christmas lights

DAY SEVEN of the festivities! How are you, my little cherry pop-tarts? I assume you’re still trucking right along with us and as predicted, things are cray-cray! But that ALWAYS happens during the Hootenanny, so we just shake our heads and go about our business. About this time we give up trying to organize and clean the place up. It’s hard to find things under the piles of tinsel and pizza boxes, but whatever. The elves have magic, so if I really need something, I ask them to find it. LOL

"I came in like a wrecckkiinng baaaaaaaallllll!!!!!!!!"
“I came in like a wrecckkiinng baaaaaaaallllll!!!!!!!!”

OMG you guys. The elves have launched into a major karoake production out back. I think they’re using one of the neighbors’ machines, and he seems fine with it because he’s right now doing a rendition of “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.” How much eggnog have they given him? I’ll have to check. OH, lordie. The elves and the reindeer are doing Miley Cyrus’s “Wrecking Ball.” Apropos, given the state of the kitchen up in here after the last cookie-baking session. Hold on…YOU GUYS! DO NOT PUT THE NEIGHBOR ON THE ROOF! And quit rolling the tinsel Death Star down the street! Where’s Dasher? On an eggnog run? In the Death Star? Get her out of there! omg.

The pizza guy got here thirty minutes ago and he’s still here, doing his rendition of “Blue Christmas” for the elves. I think Tucker has a crush on him. And now the dance parties have started up again. Good thing Dasher’s going on an eggnog run.

BUT IT’S HOOTENANNY TIME! THIS IS HOW WE ROLL! (down the street in tinsel-laden Death Star snowballs)

THANK YOU to all the authors and publishers who make this event possible every year. I’m not sure why they still humor me and Jove, but they do! AND WE LOVE IT AND WE ARE SHARING THEIR LUV WITH YOU!!!!

Let us discuss logistics. To get in on today’s drawing, leave a comment on this blog. Boom. Easy. Make sure you include your email address in the fill-out form (but NOT in the comment body). The elves lock it up tight in the peppermint vault (smells so good in there), and we’re trying to save you from the ice monsters of the anti-holiday squad from sucking up your email addresses. You only need one comment, but feel free to chat amongst yourselves. We encourage merriment and communication, but the elves will only count one of your comments. One entry per person per day (we are sharing the luv).

We close the blog at 10 PM EST U.S. time (here’s your world clock) and commence to doing the drawings. We notify as soon as we have winners, and we award based on the order in which things are listed. So the first person drawn gets the first book listed, the second, the second, and so on. Otherwise, our heads would completely fly off and spin around the room and that is a freaky sight. We email right away, and then list the winners next to each thing they won. So if you see your name listed but you haven’t received an email, CHECK YOUR SPAM FILTER. If you still don’t see an email, drop us a line at the Contact page so we can get things figured out.

Authors, if you have a book in today’s drawing, please don’t enter. Because we’re pretty sure you have plenty of copies of your book. 😀

And now we must sing.

[HINT: “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen“]
These books we have to give away
don’t worry, no dismay
Remember Women and Words is here
to do that for twelve days!
To give you books and lots of fun
during all this craaaayyyy
O eggnog for reindeer and elves
O eggnog for reindeer and elves!

Down the street and to the left
we found some open space
and played within a snow fort
pretty much all day
then ran back home with all the elves
to give these books away
O eggnog for reindeer and elves
O eggnog for reindeer and elves!

And now, my lords a’ leapin’ and ladies a’ dancin’, BEHOLD! THE LIST!

  2. I was a little concerned about what that elf was doing with that ball! But, I see that he was a wrecking it. LOL

  3. Pretty bad when reindeer need to hang out on the roof to keep from being tinsled! Wait, is that a word? Let me look it up….
“To be draped in tinsel” Yep!

  4. I’m loving your daily blogs, they’re a totally hoot! Seriously, Tucker should do standup. In all honestly though, thanks for all that you ladies to. It’s been a real treat.

Oooh, thank you for all that you do…

Another tacky rhyme from your whimsical Canadian fan 🙂

I’m like a kid in a toy store which also has candy. Yummo!

Thanks again these hootenanny lists are going to be a good reference point over the next year!

  8. This is my first year of Hootenanny and I’m gobsmacked by the generosity of everyone involved. Simply saying thank you doesn’t seem adequate enough. Maybe if I say it in as many languages as possible, my gratitude will come across.

    • Welcome to the crazy! See, we tell people that it’s a giant giveaway. That it’s easily 30 books a day (this year averaging about 40 or more). That over a hundred authors participate, and several publishers, so it’s different lists every day. But nobody believes us until they see it and then they’re all, OMG! And we just sit back, shake our heads, and say, “we told you. Now go get signed up!” lol

  9. The books are soooooo GREAT that I wish I could win every one, but alas I’ll just have to win one the old Hootenanny way. Count me in.

  10. It’s magnificent seven! The seventh day of Hootenanny!!! I’m so happy seeing all of the beautiful books here on display and I want to curl up in bed and enjoy each one. Happy 7th day of Hootenanny!

  11. Happy Hootenanny! I really do look forward to this all year around! This is my third year I think and you guys just keep making it better each year! I have to say the quality of writing in lesbian genre books (since you really can’t call it all lesbian fiction anymore) has also gotten much better and there’s a lot of quality work out there and in here! 😏

  12. Why can’t I ever get in on any of their shenanigans? What a selection up for grabs today – many of which I haven’t read so here’s hoping I’m one of the lucky ones.

  13. I am beginning to think that the elves and reindeer party 24 hours a day for the 12 days of Hootenanny. They must spend the other 353 days of the year reading all the great books on the giveaway lists. 🙂

  14. The rescue elves had to put on life jackets because it’s raining and blowing here like a typhoon on the mountain. Santa may have to come by boat….Oh, wait now it’s snowing. We always say if you don’t like the weather, wait 3 mins. Happy Hootenanny!

  15. I can’t believe all the wonderful books and authors. Thank-you and Happy Hootenanny! Merry Christmas.

  16. An interesting list of books. Thanks to all the authors.
A toast to the organizers who also have to keep the elves and reindeer in line!

  17. Crossing my fingers for tonight’s lucky seven drawing. I’ve decided not to leave things up to chance and get one book from each day’s list – either through luck of the draw, or a gift to myself. I am heading over to Bywater Books right now to order Backcast. If Lady Luck passes me by today, I am going to have to flip a coin to decide between The Rules and To Love Free. It’s hard to pick just one. I have to remind myself I will be returning to these lists throughout the year. Thank you for hosting this great event!
