Capture A Muse Journal Giveaway

Good Monday morning!

Can you believe how fast this year is going? It seems I’ve blinked and half the year is gone. Wasn’t March just last week?

It feels like it.

May is a rough month for me, so I’ve decided to brighten it up a little and do a giveaway!

I’d like to tell you about my latest project with editor, Rogena Mitchell-Jones who generously released this journal for Deserae (Dezi) – on the 11th anniversary of her passing.

We had a chance to get our heads together and decided to create a journal together. Writing is something I love to do but sometimes (okay a lot) I run out of stuff to write about or experience the author’s dreaded white (screen) brick wall known as writer’s block.

What if we could combine the two –  a journal with writing prompts to help break through the wall?

Well we did it!

HERE is the link for Capture A Muse 🙂

From Rogena:

capture a muse cover

“Do you like to journal?

Do you like to write stories?

Are you an author who likes to use writing prompts to encourage your creativity? This book might be for you!

Clever, thought-provoking prompts from award-winning author, Yvonne Heidt and put together in the style of our bestselling RMJ Journals. College-rule on absorbent paper for you to write your words based on each prompt. This journal should keep you busy for a bit.

EVEN if you aren’t looking for writing prompts, this journal is set up as our other journals are–with plenty of space to write your own stories, poems, lists…however you like to use your journals. The cover is gorgeous and the interior inspirational.”

“Some prompts are funny, some are thought provoking, and
some are damn right therapeutic!” –Yvonne

Inside intro letter from me!

It happens to all of us.
That epiphany, an idea you get that you’re so excited about, your fingers tingle, and you reach for paper and pen or maybe the nearest electronic device.
Excitement sends shivers skittering across your scalp, your eyes open wide, and you laugh with joy as you create your characters and storyline.
Or maybe, you’re like me and have the attention span of a gnat on crack.
Could be you want to write, have told yourself repeatedly you would…
One day.
That urge gets stronger year after year, you finally sit down, put your fingers on the keyboard, and write the first couple of scenes you’ve had in the back of your mind.
Like so many writers, myself included, have a time where you’re just staring at that damn white page…
You run out of words.
If this hasn’t happened to you – I’m ecstatic for you!
This journal is yours for the fun of it.
If you just want an interesting Journal, this book is for you.
If you want to hone your craft or need a kick start–this journal is for you.
Let it help you step out of your slump and let your creativity fly with these short prompts, geared to take somebody out of their comfort zone, and try something new.
Let your creativity fly and spark your inspiration. Break through that blank page as if you were kicking down a wall.Be honest with yourself and have fun with it!

We hope you capture the muse and these writing prompts help you in doing so. More importantly, we hope we made you smile.

Prompts included are related to the chapters: Walk This Way, OMG This Happened, Take A Walk, Write A Letter,  Imagine, and What If…

  1. This is a wonderful project and I’m happy to support it by reposting this. Personally, I seem to have the opposite problem; too many ideas and not enough time to get to them all. I jot them down so I don’t forget them but then go back and look at them and think, ‘Man, if I just had the time I’d so work on that one and that one…oh and that one!” There needs to be two of me.

    • Right? I want to sew my own clothes, write my books, clean the house, paint it, and oh – several other things I can think of! Thank you for reposting!

  2. I love the whimsical cover. And yes, time seems to sneak by when you’re not looking. At times you want to pin it down so you can get things done and other times you want to give it a swift boot to the bum (is it home time yet??)

  3. What a brilliant idea! I have heaps of ideas but never write them down. I am an avid reader and leave the writing to others but with this journal I would give it a bloody good go!

  4. Sounds like an awesome resource to be used alone or in a writing group. I’ll definitely be putting it on my Amazon Wish List!

  5. What a delightful journal idea! I can’t wait to use it! This looks like a combination of fun and nudge!

  6. Great project and fantastic idea. Been looking for something like this. Count me in. Thank you.

  7. I’m not sure my post is there I can’t see it so will try again. This is a beautiful way to honor those you love.

  8. Fabulous cover and great idea—I have a young writer niece with a birthday coming up, and this seems ideal. Love this Yvonne, and happy to see another new journal from Rogena. But leave me out of the giveaway ‘cuz I’m heading to Amazon right now!

  9. This sounds really great! I’m thinking since I never manage to get anything accomplished do to my disabilities, I will probably share it with my partner who is very interested in writing. Btw Yvonne, I think if it wasn’t for the car accident…you would be talking about my life ( or more precisely, you seem to be anyway with the time flying and always telling myself I would write and even after losing my partner, in the accident, who I promised I would write something for…I can only manage one fairly bad erotica piece but the disabilities seem to just keep multiplying so I will leave it to others)! Sorry to be depressing but I thought it definitely seemed interesting and similar. Good luck with it! Btw, I love the front cover!

  10. My world is a little bit different and full of sights, experiences, scenes and people that I journal about at the surface level. I would love to do so on a deeper layer! Thanks for putting together your journal and offering a give away.

  11. I was told that I have to start journeling by my sponsor. I have never journaled before, so this might be a great way for me to start.

  12. Thanks for the chance and for offering a better look at the journal. Prompts help me when I’m feeling stuck, so it would be great that it’s there waiting for those hard to overcome moments of self doubt.

  13. May is a sucky month for me as well. I’ve been setting traps for my sneaky little muse for sometime, and one thing I’ve not tried is prompts. I didn’t know Muses found them tasty…might as well give them a try, can’t hurt, right?

  14. I really love the cover! I would love to have this book, it would be an inspiration. My gf pointed this site out to me.

  15. I want to start a blog but I have trouble getting started with writing about different topics. This would be a great tool to help me kick off my writing and blogging career. Please pick me!

  16. Just read this. Checking out the shipping thingies now. Looks like just what I need at the moment. Thanks for sharing. 🐙
