Exciting, Exceptional, Expensive

It’s that time of the year again, where all the game companies come together to collectively wreak havoc on my wallet. E3 is in session and, boy, is it delivering. I’m mostly saying that because I’m getting my queer and women fixes.

First things first, “The Last of Us 2” gameplay had been revealed and the five-year wait was worth it. For those of you who haven’t gotten a chance to play it (or watch a walkthrough if that’s more your jam) the game is a post-apocalyptic tale about a man and a girl set on a journey across a ravaged US plagued by two decades-worth of zombified bodies and hardened humans with a morality that examines the very basis of what humanity is and what it can become. Joel, a smuggler, and Ellie, a girl with immunity to the infectious fungus, are placed together by circumstances and build a bond through emotional and literal journey. The game is full of gray with very little black-and-white and will pluck some of your heartstrings while snapping others.

The second game will probably be following Ellie instead of Joel based on everything they’ve said so far. Naughty Dog had released a couple of teasers/trailers earlier, and they were pretty visceral and awesome, but I’ll let you judge for yourself. (Quick heads up, there’s violence.)

Look at those arms, am I right?

Well now we have a third, and with gameplay! (Heads up, there’s gayness. Oh, and violence.)

I watched this trailer eighty times already.

Now while Bioware is having an identity crisis, or experimenting or whatever they’re doing there, Ubisoft has adopted some of our beloved rpg elements that Bioware has misplaced for the time being. Their latest announced Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will take place in ancient Greece during the Peloponnesian War and will follow a character of your choosing, Alexios or Kassandra, and they will be able to romance people of either gender. Also Kassandra is ripped so I will most likely get this one despite giving up after like 5 of these Creed games. How many are they popping out? There’s like 20 already.

If you skip around this video you’ll see Kassandra in action.

Now for a gentler pace, Dontnod announced that they will release a free game that takes place in the “Life is Strange” universe, and it is adorable.

Here’s some others that seem fun, peruse at your enjoyment.

Cyberpunk people say we can customize our characters!

Seems like my wallet is losing some weight soon.
