Having a good summer? Did you get some rest and relaxation? Hope so because, now:
It’s been about 643 days since the last Presidential Election, November 8, 2016. For many that election night was a nightmare come true. Many women were in shock and it was difficult to function in normal life for a while. It was important to put the political world on the back burner because, in order to live our lives productively, we had to let it go. We adapted.
But now, today, we have to rise up. There is urgency. We are at a tipping point.
Remember how you felt when you realized this man was going to be the President of the United States? It brought tears to many, anger and frustration to most women. Bring those feelings back because they will help to propel you into action. And now, right now, it is time for action. There are about 80 days left before the mid-term elections. This November elections is the most important elections of your life time. Really. It doesn’t matter how old you are, these are the most important elections since the Civil War. Because, if we don’t stop him and his Russian handlers, we won’t be able to stop him in 2020. They have already corrupted many of our democratic institutions, placed morally deficient Judges into positions of power, and have undermined or eliminated many agencies created to benefit and safeguard us, the people.
We all need to figure out what our part is in saving our democracy. Support your local candidate, canvas your neighborhood, donate your money, go to fund raisers, show up at protest rallies, show up at campaign events, write about this in your blogs, Facebook and all other social media. So, do what you can and make a commitment to give a certain amount of time, energy and money to this election. It may be an hour a day, it may be an afternoon a week. If you are in the position to do so, stop your job and commit full time.
There is something that is important for all of us to do and that we all can do. Make your voice heard. This is not the time to be silent. We must continue to have difficult conversations with those who disagree with us. Why? It matters! It is the only way to change the people’s minds. We must have those conversations because we have to change their minds away from this man and toward reality, sanity, safety and national and worldwide stability.
It’s time! Rise up!
