Women and Words is going on hiatus June 1!

Greetings, all!

We know. That headline probably caught your attention and freaked you out. We get it. But it’s okay. We’ll get through this together. 🙂

Here’s the deal.

Jove and Andi are alerting you, dear readers, to the fact that we are putting Women and Words on hiatus beginning June 1. We have not made any decisions beyond that.

There are several reasons that we’re doing this, but the crux of the matter is, we’re exhausted, y’all.

The site is a lot of work (omg…lol), and we’ve been doing this since…um…2010, maybe? So, a while. And that long in blog years is basically 128 in tech years.

Both of us have a lot of things going on in our lives that have taken huge chunks of time that we used to have for this here bloggity blog and all the stuff we did with it, but we just don’t have those chunks of time anymore.

Life changes have created circumstances in which we both had to make some decisions and prioritize in different ways.

In other words, life happens. Y’all know how that goes. #RealityBites

But YOU. OMG, YOU, dear readers. We are so very, very grateful for the time you’ve spent with us, for all the things you’ve shared with us, and all the words you’ve spread across this site, through good times and yes, bad.

Women and Words has truly been a labor of love and community, and that’s exactly why Jove and I decided to launch it over a decade ago, when we were looking for that kind of space and looking to share it with people.

We’re honored to have shared it with you, and we’re so, so honored by the love and support that this blog has provided over the years to us and so many others.

So thank you, amazing people!

We love you, and we hope you continue to do what you do and share more love.

We’re not going anywhere. We’re just working on a lot of other things and you can always find us somewhere.

Love and light,
Andi and Jove

and all the elves and reindeer. 🙂

  2. Hiatus well deserved. Bloggers are like everyone else – we hang on because we believe our words matter to someone…somewhere.
Thank you for your wise words – they will continue to matter to someone…somewhere.
Warmest wishes to you both. Live long and prosper.

  3. Thankyou for allowing me to get my very first blog-rant in before the hiatus. I understand that it’s hard to have your attention going in so many directions; whiplash. Always be good to yourselves. I will continue to go through past blogs since there is quite a bit, and it’s all still relevant. Enjoy the energy you will be putting in other endeavors. Stay blessed, stay safe. ✌🏽gaile

  8. It’s a sad sad day as this is one of my favourite blogs to read, but it is completely understandable. Entertaining blogs take a lot of time and work, and if ya ain’t got the time no more, ya ain’t got it.

You will be sorely missed in many inboxes and honestly, Decembers just won’t be the same without Hootinanny. I loved emails full of Tucker’s antics with the other elves and reindeer. And of course the chance to win a free ebook was fantastic.

I’ve recently discovered The Lesbian Talkshow podcast and started listening from the oldest ones and up pops the one where they interviewed Andi. It was great hearing about the blog and what it took to host the Hootinanny each year.

Thank you for all the work the two of you have put in over the years, and since reboots seem to be all the rage at the moment, I’m sincerely hoping that there will may be a reboot lurking somewhere in the future.

Loads of love, eggnog and glitter (coz glitter stays with you forever).

Lee, you rock. Thanks for contributing to this here blog thingie and again, Jove and I haven’t thought beyond the immediate need to go on hiatus, so anything could happen here in the future… 🙂
